Who can benefit from these programs?
The Center currently offers a variety of classes to meet the changing needs of our families. They include the following: Labor and Delivery Support – On-going weekly labor and delivery parenting education classes offer young mothers information on anatomy, nutrition, the importance of prenatal care, childbirth education, breast feeding, child growth and development, basic parenting and avoiding unhealthy addictions. These prenatal education classes, combined with the in-home mentoring component, creates a powerful combination that ensures the greatest chances of a healthy pregnancy, successful delivery and strong mother/child bond. This class is held in Modesto, Turlock and Oakdale. Please see schedule of classes for locations, days and times. Infant Parenting Program – This program was developed to provide services with a specific focus on newborn/infant care and to help new mothers understand and meet their infant’s basic needs, develop early attachments, and emphasize the critical role of a nurturing parent. These on-going classes focus on breast feeding, infant bonding massage, proper nutrition and feeding, immunizations, childhood illnesses, appropriate expectations, ages and stages of development, sleep disturbances, colic and the importance of forming early attachments. Please see schedule of classes for location, day and time. Car Seat Education Program - This program will teach you how to install a car seat correctly. Adult and Teen Parenting Programs – These programs include the concepts of self-awareness, identifying personal strengths, goal setting, communications skills, anger and stress management, understanding of child development, and behavior management techniques. Programs are designed to meet the individual needs of our parents. Classes are held in Modesto, Turlock, Oakdale and Hughson, for Adult Women, Co-ed Groups, Young Mothers and Teen Parents. Family Literacy - Family Literacy and GED preparation classes are offered by Stanislaus Literacy Center through Family Resource Center services. Please see schedule of classes for locations, days and times.
