On-Site Parenting Education Classes:

The Parent Resource Center programs are structured, not only to increase positive parenting skills to prevent child abuse, but also encourage parents to accept responsibility for themselves and their children. The program philosophy adheres to the old proverb, “ Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life.”

All on site parenting education classes utilize the “Bavolek Nurturing Program” written by Stephen J. Bavolek, Ph.D as the core of their curriculum. This curriculum is family-based with a proven track record of preventing child abuse and neglect. The “Bavolek Nurturing Program” is founded on building the quality of empathy in family members to promote personal empowerment, self-worth, non-violent discipline, age-appropriate expectations and compassion.  All parenting classes are a 12-week curriculum.

The Center provides unique support services for families who utilize the Family Resource Center, including:

  • On-site childcare during class time.
  • Healthy Family MediCal for Children and Kaiser Permanente Child Health Plan application assistance for families seeking low cost medical coverage.
  • Differential Response
  • Mental Health Services
  • Family Literacy and GED Preparation Classes

  • Parents who need someone to talk to
